Hey Sis,
I’ve been reflecting on how important it is to have the right people around us. We all know that life isn’t meant to be walked alone, but it's even more powerful when the right people are walking beside you—people who encourage you, uplift you, and keep you grounded in your faith. As Christian women, our circle of friends can make or break our journey with Christ. So, let’s talk about how Christ can guide you to the right people, why having a Christ-filled circle is essential, and the risks of hanging out with the wrong crowd.
Let Christ Lead You to the Right People
One of the greatest blessings in my life has been the relationships I’ve formed with people who love Jesus. But let me tell you, it didn’t always come easy. I used to get caught up in chasing after friendships that looked good on the outside but lacked the depth of spiritual connection that I needed. I quickly learned that Christ is the best guide when it comes to picking the right people for your life.
The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Trusting God to lead me to the right people has been such a game-changer. When you let Christ be your guide, He will bring people into your life who align with His purpose for you. You won’t have to chase or force relationships; they’ll just fall into place.
The Beauty of a Christ-Filled Circle
Sis, having a circle of friends who share your love for Jesus is one of the most beautiful gifts you can have in your walk with Christ. When you surround yourself with women who are also striving to live according to God’s Word, you’re not only encouraged to keep going, but you’re held accountable in your faith. We can learn from each other, pray for each other, and support each other through life’s challenges.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:11, it says, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” That’s exactly what having a Christ-centered circle does. It builds you up, encourages you when you’re down, and helps you see things from a Godly perspective. With the right friends, you’re reminded that God is always with you, and you don’t have to go through life’s struggles alone.
The Dangers of the Wrong Crowd
Now, I’m not saying that we shouldn’t be friendly or show love to everyone—we absolutely should! But there is a big difference between being a light to those who don’t know Christ and allowing people who don’t walk in the same faith to influence you.
In 1 Corinthians 15:33, the Bible warns us, “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’” Hanging with the wrong crowd can lead you away from God’s purpose for your life. The wrong people can plant seeds of doubt, encourage bad habits, and even pull you into situations that are far from what God wants for you.
I’ve had my moments where I allowed toxic relationships to influence me, and it didn’t take long for me to realize how draining and spiritually harmful those connections could be. When you surround yourself with people who aren’t focused on Christ, it becomes easy to lose sight of your own faith. And let’s be honest, we can all be swayed by peer pressure, especially when we’re not grounded in our relationship with God.
What the Bible Says About Relationships
God is clear about the kind of relationships we should have in our lives. In Proverbs 27:17, it says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” The relationships we build should help us grow stronger in our faith, sharpen our character, and encourage us to live a life pleasing to God.
The Bible also teaches us the importance of love, respect, and mutual encouragement in our relationships. In 1 John 4:7, it says, “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” A true Christ-filled relationship is rooted in love, and that love is reflected in how we treat one another.
The Benefits of a Christ-Centered Circle
Having a Christ-centered circle of friends isn’t just about avoiding negative influences—it’s about stepping into the fullness of God’s purpose for you. When you have friends who encourage your spiritual growth, pray with you, and hold you accountable, you become more like the woman God created you to be.
You’ll experience deeper joy, peace, and strength because you know you’re surrounded by people who truly care for you—not just for your outward appearance, but for your heart and soul. Together, you’ll grow in wisdom, prayer, and support. And when tough times come (because they will), you’ll have a group of sisters in Christ who will lift you up and remind you that God is faithful.
Final Thoughts
Sis, I encourage you today to pray and ask God to guide you toward friendships that will help you grow in faith and strengthen your walk with Christ. It’s not about quantity, but quality. Choose the people who will walk beside you, pray with you, and help you become the woman God created you to be. And remember, God knows exactly what you need. Trust Him to lead you to the right people, and don’t settle for relationships that don’t align with His will for your life.
God bless you as you continue to grow and surround yourself with people who truly reflect His love. Keep walking in faith, and let your circle of friends be a reflection of the amazing woman you are in Christ!
With love,
Coach Dee
